We see it often. People come in to try on new ski or snowboard boots and they do not bring the cold weather socks they ski in or the socks are just wrong for cold weather in tight boots.
Here are some ideas we like about socks. A thick sock will collect sweat and hold moisture close to your foot, and make you buy a boot that is too big after you ski in it. A thin sock, will let you choose the right size. and will move sweat from your foot to the liner, which is designed to wick that moisture away from your body. It might sound wrong but thin socks with keep your feet much warmer during a day of skiing or boarding. Bulky ski socks tend to bunch up. and wrinkles will reduce circulation to your feet, making them very cold.
Here are two videos that explain this more.
A new pair of thinner socks will help you get a warmer, more confortable ski or snowboard boot.
